Following the launch and the beginning of a new Peugeot 408 Sedan in China earlier this year, Peugeot announced on Monday that construction of a compact sedan started in a plant of PSA Peugeot Citroën Palomar in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Not to be confused with the larger 508, VW Jetta-sized, Peugeot 408 Sedan is the sedan version of the Peugeot 308 family hatchback, wagon and coupe-cabriolet body styles include.

Peugeot 408 Sedan will be South American premiere at the Sao Paulo Auto Show in Brazil in late October. In addition to Argentina and Brazil, the compact sedan will go on sale in 25 other countries in Latin America.

Peugeot has not released any information about the powertrain options South American spec model. In China, presented Peugeot 408 Sedan with a choice of 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter gasoline engine produces 106hp and 147HP respectively.

It’s a shame that most people who buy the 2011 Range Rover Sport Supercharged with its 5.0-liter, 510-horsepower V8, permanent 4WD drive-train and hydraulic air suspension are going to banish it to glorified minivan duty hauling snot-nosed kids to math club and back in Brentwood or the Hamptons. Granted, as a parent, I see why households with high six-figure incomes would castrate this impressive all-world truck (price: $78,095) by relegating it to babysitting duty; one slam of the thick door and, damn, I felt invincible. Like Sherman Tank invincible. I’m sure thousands of moms around the world think it as well.

When you think of it – or when I think about it – this British-designed-and-manufactured behemoth likely uses the Queen of England as its ultimate target passenger and then thinks of her traveling through the far-flung corners of the former British Commonwealth (Australia, India, New Zealand — you get the idea). In that capacity, the overbuilt frame, suspension and thick sheet-metal are welcome. And what parent wouldn’t want their Muffy and Buffy to ride as safely and comfortably as the queen while they negotiate the speed bumps in front the school? In that context, this Range Rover makes sense.

What We Know About the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover

As most any vehicle engineer can tell you, weight is the enemy of performance, fuel economy, and planet-warming emissions, not to mention handling agility and stopping ability. That's why automakers all over are busy adding "lightness" to a variety of products, even where exterior dimensions are little changed.

Consider the redesigned 2013 Land Rover Range Rover, expected to launch in autumn 2012. According to Britain's Autocar magazine and other sources, the fourth iteration of this posh SUV is set to lose an eye-popping 1,000 pounds versus the vintage-2003 design it replaces, this despite fractional gains in length and wheelbase that promise more rear-seat legroom per owner requests. Powertrains and other under-skin components should remain broadly the same, but will doubtless be tweaked for further mpg gains. Styling, too, will be familiar except for a much lower roof line a la today's Range Rover Sport, though headroom allegedly won't be compromised. The Sport itself is being redesigned for 2014 as essentially a 7-passenger version of the new 5-passenger Rangie, meaning it might become less of a "sport."

Premium trim will be installed with some standard accessories such as automatic head lights, tilt and telescopic steering column, sunroof, heated mirrors, automatic head light wipers, eight way power adjustable driver seats, navigation system with voice activation and real time traffic updates. 3.0T premium model will be added with power lift gate and heated front seats.

Premium Plus model will be added with rear parking sensors, LED running Lights, driver seat with memory function, auto dimming exterior rear view mirrors, self leveling xenon head lights, 18 inch wheels, auto dimming interior mirrors, rear parking sensors and driver seat with memory function.

Top trim level Prestige model will be added with power adjustable steering wheel, Bose audio system with DVD compatibility, rear view camera, adaptive headlights, power adjustable steering wheels and shift paddles.

These models can also be installed with Cold Weather package which include heated steering wheel, heated rear seats and heated front seats. On selecting Sports Package A6 will be added with shift paddles, all seasons tires, sports tuned suspension system and sporty steering wheel. This model can also be installed with blind spot warning system and rear side airbags.
